Green or Living roofs...

We plan to install or rather have installed a "green Roof" on the garage. The link is the first that i saw and not one I looked at in detail as of yet so may change but it will give you a good idea until we can get our own put up here.

The current garage roof is rotton beyond belief so the "green roof" will be made with bees and wildlife in mind.

Hopefully over the years there will be many plants available on the roof to accomodate aven our own bee hive.... now that will please the neighbours....

Initially the idea was to renew the fabric of the roof so that we could collect rainwater but then the idea of a living roof took hold. Our garage roof is quite large, something in the order of 19 square meters in area so we were hoping to partition this up so that we could have part of it with lime hating plants, part with lime loveing plants and a third section of plants that love chalk.

We haven't progressed this idea much beyond this but at the time of writting the garage roof is covered with 20cm of snow.....
