As
I understand it, wood burning is carbon neutral.
The idea is that as the tree grows it takes
in carbon di oxide in the growth cycle and when
you cut down the tree and leave it to rot or
it dies naturally and it decays on the forest
floor the tree will release the stored carbon
back into the atmosphere.
Therefore
if you burn the chopped down tree and it creates
C02 it is the same as
if it was on the forest floor and releasing
the CO2 that the tree
had stored during it's life. Charcoal is another
form of wood burning but one with many advantages
over the "normal" ideals of burning
wood to say keep warm or to cook food.
Charcoal
can be used as a heat source for smelting metal
and had the invention of charcoal not been made
then man would not have progressed from the
stone age to the iron age.
It
is also possible to create your own charcoal
at home and we intend to show you how once we
have re read the information provided in the
magazine we have and of course try it out ourselves.
We aim to make a charcoal burner / maker out
of an old Gas Bottle.
More
coming soon.
